When my grandfather died (at the ripe old age of 89, I believe), we found a bottle of Old Grand-Dad Whiskey in the hall closet. No one knows if he was hiding it, saving it, etc., but I laid claim to it. During the 40 years that I knew him, I never saw him take a drink, with the possible exception of a small champagne toast at events. That said, I never got to sit down and have a drink with him. I spent the next year or so taking small sips from the bottle and having imaginary conversations with big Ed. So sue me.
