Another one for Georgia, after dropping her off for her freshman year of college.
The assignment: “How about this. Write a song with distinctive verses, b-sections and chorus' moving the first chord of each up a step. Example...If the first chord in your verses is a D, then your b sections will start with an E and your chorus' will start with an F. It doesn't matter what chord you start with...you just move up from there single steps.“
lyrics
v1:
They said this trip would hurt and we believed them
and we weren't wrong
---
You take a piece of your life and you just leave them
with a prayer & a song
pre:
You've already changed us in 18
Let's see what you do in 4
v2:
What good would it do for you to have stayed here
a new day has dawned
---
But take all the memories, the good & bad, that we made here
They'll carry you on
pre:
You've already changed us in 18
Let's see what you do in 4
ch:
Now you're covered in sky blue
You're standing on open shores
And this world that you fly through is yours
v3:
Nothing seems normal, but everything's alright
It's alright
Your brother says he misses you
He says, "goodnight," he says, "hang on tight"
pre:
You've already changed us in 18
Let's see what you do in 4
ch:
Now you're covered in sky blue
You're standing on open shores
And this world that you fly through is yours
-- rock, or something --
pre:
You've already changed us in 18
You've already changed us in 18
You've already changed us in 18
Let's see what you do in 4
ch:
Now you're covered in sky blue
You're standing on open shores
And this world that you fly through
ch:
You're covered in sky blue
You're standing on open shores
And this world that you fly through is yours
