To the best of my knowledge, the only song I've ever played live w/ electric guitar, harmonica & vocal.
The best line, of course, is stolen from Jason isbell.
The assignment: “For Veterans Day/Armistice Day/Poppy Day, write a song about warriors, fighters, soldiers... (fiction or nonfiction, any kind of - example: space warriors, firefighters...) in reggae or ska. Ya-man!"
I am going to take a rare bit of editorial privilege here: it’s going to be a crazy week, with lots of emotions running high. Our judges may give leeway as they please, but I am not going to put anyone on probation this week for not writing a reggae or ska song. Please do make an effort to follow the assignment, but I’m not sure that everyone is going to want to be limited by the mood-parameters that a genre assignment might dictate. Fair enough?
lyrics
v1:
I am willing to get my hands dirty
As long as we're fighting on the side of mercy
A little extra grace to get us through
I know it's not my place to tell you what to do
ch:
But if it's your fight, it's my fight
As long as who we're fighting for is on the right side
There's no such thing as somebody else's war
But what are we fighting for?
v2:
I don't understand the need to get ahead
Got a copy of the Good Book, that ain't what I read
I ain't sayin' we gotta make ourselves small
Just gotta love out neighbors, I think that is all
ch:
But if it's your fight, it's my fight
As long as who we're fighting for is on the right side
There's no such thing as somebody else's war
But what are we fighting for?
-- harmonica --
ch:
But if it's your fight, it's my fight
As long as who we're fighting for is on the right side
There's no such thing as somebody else's war

But if it's your fight, it's my fight
As long as who we're fighting for is on the right side
There's no such thing as somebody else's war
But what are we fighting for?
