This week's assignment comes from Jerry:
"In honor on my having just been ON A BOAT, write a song that would sound great on a boat, or on a Yacht Rock compilation album. Doesn’t necessarily have to be ABOUT a boat. Bonus points if said song sparks a comeback from Christopher Cross."
Well, this is pretty far out of my comfort zone and will likely NOT help resurrect Christopher Cross' career. That said, I'd crank this s*** on a yacht.
I wish I had left enough time for Lee Ritenour's guitar solo.
lyrics
Woke up this morning
A new day dawning
Adventure waits for me at every turn
I'm bouncing off the ceiling
I can't shake this feeling
Trouble waits, but I won't ever learn
Well, I've seen a lot of people
And I've sailed a lot of worlds
Don't worry 'bout the time I could've saved
I've had so many good times
And I've known my share of girls
But your love is like the crashing of the waves
Yeah, your love is like the crashing of the waves
Time for the sunrise
Shine like your big brown eyes
Look at me and tell me I'm the one
Won't you take my hand
See some colors we could not have planned
From the ocean blue to the setting of the sun
Well, I've seen a lot of people
And I've sailed a lot of worlds
Don't worry 'bout the time I could've saved
I've had so many good times
And I've known my share of girls
But your love is like the crashing of the waves
Yeah, your love is like the crashing of the waves
And just like Thunder Island, the rain will start to fall
But we won't care, we won't care at all
-- take it, Lee Ritenour --
Well, I've seen a lot of people
And I've sailed a lot of worlds
Don't worry 'bout the time I could've saved
I've had so many good times
And I've known my share of girls
But your love is like the crashing of the waves
Yeah, your love is like the crashing of the waves
I said, your love is like the crashing of the waves
Yeah, your love is like the crashing of the waves
