The assignment this week comes from DD:
“Let’s start with rhythm this week. Find a rhythm from an existing song that you like - a drumbeat, a strumming or arpeggio pattern, any kind of specific rhythm - and pattern your writing on that. You can sample a beat, recreate a drum beat, or otherwise be influenced by the rhythm. And of course, the rhythm may change and evolve as you write; that’s fine, as long as you begin somewhere specific. When you post your song, please include a link to the original rhythm.”
The rhythm is exactly what you hear, a lame drum fill by me, looped over & over. I think I enjoy the tune, though, but we'll see how it sounds in the harsh light of day. At worst, "pedestrian" or "lame. At best, somewhere between 3rd Eye Blind & 2 Lb. Planet.
lyrics
Have you been muddied by the water?
Have you been trying to gain your sight?
Have you been wondering what comes after?
Are you ready to take flight?
Yeah, we all want to be healed
We all want to feel, something that's good
Yeah, we all need to get close
We all ned to shake loose, you know that we should
Underneath it all we're wearing the same souls
And we all know we'll fall and start to lose control
Underneath it all we want to play the part
Of the prince or the princess who beats the broken heart
We're all cowards in our own tombs
Frightened of the light of day
We like to see ourselves in ruins
But there must be a better way
Yeah, we all want to be loved
But is that enough to carry us through
Just when we think we can be real
It ain't no big deal, you know that's the truth
Underneath it all we're wearing the same souls
And we all know we'll fall and start to lose control
Underneath it all we want to play the part
Of the prince or the princess who beats the broken heart
gtr solo
Underneath it all we're wearing the same souls
And we all know we'll fall and start to lose control
Underneath it all we want to play the part
Of the prince or the princess who beats the broken heart
