The assignment this week is from Joshua:
"After spending time overseas, I think it would be a cool thing to work in a foreign language into your song. It doesn't have to be much, but it should work with your rhyme scheme and make sense (or not, if that is your intent).
I'm thinking "Michelle" by the Beatles is a great example, where Paul basically repeats the verse in French. But it is up to you. It can be a single phrase, like "C'est la vie," or "Ma Cherie amour," to name a few others.
If you are fluent (or married to someone who is), you can write as much in another language as you want to! So break out your translation dictionary and good luck!"
Well, this is weird. I think I actually really like this song. At the very least, it's an upbeat number I might enjoy playing live.
2 minutes to spare.
lyrics
v1:
The bliss of a broken heart
The wish for a brand new start
The sunset signals a work of art in your mind
---
We're wondering when she'll return
We're laughing, we'll never learn
Not a minute passes and we get burned a second time
chorus:
Diga me, cerveza
Cuidado, Mariposa
The wine in Santa Rosa will not let me down
Bésa me, amor
We're all waiting for you to come around
v2:
The night falls on another day
The road calls, I'm on my way
We build walls, we think we're safe inside
---
We think that we'll meet again
We're weak, so we pretend
We don't mean to push it to the end, but we'll survive
chorus:
Diga me, cerveza
Cuidado, Mariposa
The wine in Santa Rosa will not let me down
Bésa me, amor
We're all waiting for you to come around
br:
We're all looking for good times
Under the sunshine, under the rain
Living 'til we get shot down
My heart ain't on lockdown
So thrill me again
v3:
The bliss of a broken heart
We wish for a brand new start
But the moon sets on the work of art we left behind
We left behind
chorus:
Diga me, cerveza
Cuidado, Mariposa
The wine in Santa Rosa will not let me down
Bésa me, amor
We're all waiting for you
---
Diga me, cerveza
Cuidado, Mariposa
The wine in Santa Rosa will not let me down
Bésa me, amor
We're all waiting for you to come around
